Dick and
Sharon Starks' Grand Lido Braco SCUBA Get-Away
Dear Carol,
Well... You really did it
this time! After going on 17 cruises, you finally talked us into going on
an all-inclusive trip. And, to quote the late, great Lee Marvin in the
movie Cat Ballou... IT WAS JUST SWELL!!
We'll probably never go on
another cruise. This trip set a new standard for travel with us. We've
never had a better time. It really raised the bar.
Compared to cruising, the
advantages of an all-inclusive are just too many to ignore. You really do
get a lot more "bang for your buck."
As you know, we're both
avid SCUBA divers and the "scuba diving included", as part of the package at SUPERCLUBS
GRAND LIDO BRACO was just too attractive a feature to pass up.
The whole stay was just
fantastic. Just like being on a cruise but WITHOUT the
crowds, WITHOUT the rushing around, WITHOUT
the set times for meals.. WITHOUT the having to eat with a
bunch of strangers. WITHOUT the tipping. It was a totally new and enjoyable experience for us.
The food was great!! Just
as delicious and varied as on a cruise. And, we had more choices as to when and
where we wanted to eat. If we wanted a table for two.. we got it. If we
wanted to eat with some of our new SCUBA buddies and talk diving... We
could do that too. At Grand Lido Braco we could choose between 5 different
restaurants for our meals and each has its own style and theme.
We didn't do much partying
at night. We were there to dive and did we ever. We got in 9 dives in 5
days. The Water sports staff at Lido Braco were the best we've ever worked
with. For inexperienced or non-certified divers, there were DAILY classes
in the pool and DAILY one-tank dives for non-certified divers. For
certified divers, there were two dives offered a day and you were finished
by 1pm every day. This left you plenty of time for tours, golf or in our
case... reading on the beach under a palm tree while the constant breeze
kept you cool.
We're hooked! And, you did
such a great job arranging our trip. We were met at the airport, put on a
bus and taken right to the resort. I've got to admit, the adrenalin rush
we got on the one-hour bus ride was as good as any amusement park ride I've ever taken.
So.. We thank you VERY
MUCH for finally beating us over the head and talking us into
making this trip. It really opened our
eyes to what an all-inclusive resort really means... ALL
INCLUSIVE!!!
Hugs and Kisses,
Dick and Sharon Starks

The swim-up bar was very
popular during the day. |

At the end of the dive, we'd all group together for the mandatory 3
minute safety stop at 15 feet. (Notice how we all have
"perfect" buoyancy control. Yep.. everybody's precisely at
15 feet... Yeah... right.....) |

Sharon says, "Howdy" underwater during one of our
fantastic dives. Nine dives in 5 days and they were all GREAT!! |

LOBSTER!! At the Friday night street party.. You could
have all the lobster you could eat.. and then some. I made a fool
out of myself THAT night. |

The daily resort dives for non-certified divers were well attended.
Mitch, the dive instructor, was the best we've ever encountered.
Their dive program is also a PADI five-star dive school and many beginners left
the resort with their OPEN WATER diver certificate. |

The wedding chapel was in constant use the entire time we were
there. Wedding party's ranged from small groups like this to a group
with over 250 guests. |

The view from our balcony. It just doesn't get any better than
this!!! I'd get up every morning and walk the beach with a cup of
coffee watching the sun come up. This was about as
"crowded" as it got. |

Unloading the dive boat after another great dive. The water sports
crew at Grand Lido Braco were the best dive operators we've ever
encountered. They were cheerful, fun and very safety conscious. |

A really excited little Puffer fish. He's blown up to about 4 times
his normal size. A minute after we released him, he was back to
normal happily swimming around in the coral. |
