freeman-1st day at resort.jpg (41263 bytes)Hey Carol!

Now that I'm rested, I wanted to thank you for all your help in arranging our fabulous trip to Jamaica and our stay at Hedonism III at Runaway Bay in Ocho Rios. All of us, Kenna, Jeni, Anna, Anery and myself, had a terrific time.

It's hard to get up each day knowing I don't get to just put on a bathing suit, go eat and then relax at the main pool and bar. I guess that's where I'll start. The bartenders were wonderful! They were great to talk to and made excellent drinks...there was no skimping on the alcohol. The Rum Punch really packed a punch, the Hummingbird and Dirty Banana were like dessert, the Pina Coladas were so smooth, and Rum Cream became the favorite drink by the last day. By the first day, we'd already met several people at the main bar, all there with the same purpose: To relax, have a great time, and get away from the real world. Our first night was the Toga Party...What fun! They provide the sheets and you can figure it out on your own or get a little help. The contests for best and worst toga were hilarious! It's amazing what people can do with a little fabric. After the long line at immigration and hour and a half bus ride (that was probably the only down side, but it was expected, and the bus driver made the ride really interesting), the party was much appreciated.

freeman-hammock room.jpg (49349 bytes)We had so many options for activities, or doing absolutely nothing, that it's hard to sum it all up. I personally loved hanging out at the pool and beach and just relaxing. And the water slide around the club was great! Some of the activities they have there included snorkeling, diving (including certification), and glass bottom boat tours. I don't think we did any of those, but we knew they were there. They just weren't for us. We talked to some folks that did some of the diving and snorkeling and they said it was very good for novice and intermediate skill levels. We did do a couple of the off-resort activities for an additional fee (cab rides to Ocho Rios are interesting). A few of us did the Parasailing. What an awesome feeling to be hundreds of feet up in the air but feel like your standing still. A couple of us also did the Shopping Tour in Ocho Rios, going in town to get some souvenirs and also a brief stay in Margaritaville (my main purpose for the trip). I never made it to Bob Marley's birthplace, guess that will have to wait for next year. The resort was never boring, so it was the place to be. But finding a quiet spot to relax on the beach or in a hammock in the shade facing the sea was really easy.

freeman-togatogatoga.jpg (37250 bytes)Ok, now to the topic most asked about by friends and family. For those with a more 'adventurous side,' you could also venture to the 'Au Naturel' side. We had heard rumors about the openness of the resort, and when I mentioned that's where I was going to people, I would get a raised eyebrow. But it's all up to the person on how much they want to see or not see. While there are a few nudes that meander to the 'prude' side, for the most part, the nude beach and pool are fairly secluded. But it was so much fun! That bar was one of the best, and at night, it was the place to be.

We met so many great people, and we're already planning on returning at the same time next year, but definitely for a longer stay. Five days in paradise just isn't long enough!

Thanks for all your help and we look forward to working with you as we plan next year's trip!

Danielle Freeman
